This banana is not quite as hardy as Musa basjoo, but well worth the extra risk because of its red underside to the leaves and the dark stripe on some plants. Furthermore, the leaves are much more leathery than those of Musa basjoo and tend not to rip in the wind quite so much. A really delectable hardy exotic, guaranteed to cause a stir in your garden.
