Chusquea culeou is the most variable of the species due to its wide distribution in South America from high forest to open grassland. Coueou is easily distinguished by the multitude of branchs at each node they tend to nearly encircle the culm giving it a very distinctive look this is where its common name the fox tail Bamboo comes from. It has a bold tidy upright habit that is best used as a solitary specimen where it can be easy seen and cherished i have one on the bank at the nursery that has started to look really good after 3 years. A must have bamboo that will grow in full sun or light shade and reach 5-7m in height depending on the clone with an open but clumping habit.
What you will recieve
The bamboo will arrive in a 7.5ltr pot and stand 3ft tall with 5-6 culms.
Planting and Care
Plant with the addition of some organic matter and water in well do not let the plant dry out in the first six months its in the ground after this it should look after its self. The best food a bamboo can have is its own dead leaves and culm sheaths so leave them to mulch the base of the plant.
Chusquea culeou is best used as a specimin bamboo planted where it can be seen and admired. It will grow in full sun or semi shade.
Any reasonable soil is ok add organic matter to help the bamboo establish.
Chusquea is a clump forming bamboo it is suited to growing in a pot use a good loam based compost and dont let it dry out feed regularly but its best in the ground it will never really do its thing in a pot.

This Bamboo can reach 16ft/5m in height it is clump forming and should spread about 2m in ten years.
